In situ treatment
In-situ treatment is a safe, effective and sustainable solution that enables soil and groundwater to be decontaminated directly on site, without the need for excavation or supporting measures. This approach considerably reduces costs, particularly when contamination is present beneath a building.

How does in situ treatment work?
We offer cutting-edge soil and groundwater remediation solutions tailored to our customers' specific requirements. Our approach allows us to solve problems in no time.
Step 1
We carry out detailed assessments to precisely define soil and groundwater characteristics and identify the pollutants involved.
Step 2
The technologies we have developed and proven enable contaminants to be captured, mobilized and treated to meet the compliance targets involved.
Step 3
We carry out post-treatment monitoring in situ to measure durability and give you peace of mind.

Our services guarantee optimal soil and groundwater remediation, while complying with environmental standards. You'll benefit from a personalized approach that maximizes savings and ensures lasting results.

Methodology and innovation
At Biotix, we are committed to providing the highest level of expertise in all our soil, groundwater, surface water, air and waste characterization projects. We work closely with our customers to ensure optimal results that comply with the various regulations in our field of expertise.

High-definition environmental characterization
In situ treatment at Biotix requires extensive expertise in the nature of contaminants and their spatial distribution in soil or groundwater. We are continually honing our high-definition skills to design optimal, affordable solutions for every problem, always aiming for the most effective remediation possible.

Soil rehabilitation using innovative techniques
Through its research and development efforts, Biotix has perfected a series of innovative techniques for in situ soil and groundwater remediation. These pioneering, safe methods are effective in treating a variety of contaminants, such as light and heavy petroleum products, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds, PFAS and dioxins and furans.

In situ treatment for fast results
Biotix is well aware that time is of the essence in any soil or groundwater remediation project. Thanks to its research and development program, several innovative in situ soil and groundwater remediation techniques have been developed to ensure treatment times of up to less than three months for certain contaminants.
Our technologies for quality services
We use state-of-the-art technologies to guarantee the safety and efficiency of our in situ treatments. Each technology is chosen to meet the highest standards of safety, treatment time and performance. Biotix uses a variety of technologies, including biological and physico-chemical. However, Biotix excels in the following 4 techniques.
Soil leaching
Soil leaching is a highly advanced remediation technique at Biotix that replicates the natural principle of leaching, but artificially controls it to safely extract and mobilize contaminants from soil and groundwater. Once captured, contaminants are transported to the surface to our treatment lines, enabling them to be optimally managed in compliance with regulatory standards. This technology is the fruit of 12 years of research and development at Biotix. It has led to the creation of a 4-way multidirectional well.
Pumping and treatment
Pump-and-treat is an in situ hydraulic remediation technology that extracts, treats and discharges contaminated groundwater in order to reduce the quantity of contaminants and control their migration. This method is highly reliable, but can be rather slow. It is used either as the main treatment or as an additional hydraulic control measure.
Volatilization
Volatilization is a technology whereby volatile organic compounds (VOCs) contained in soil or groundwater evaporate and migrate as vapors through soil pores or to the surface. In other words, contaminants evaporate naturally or under the effect of a treatment, which then facilitates their extraction or degradation.
Modified multiphase extraction
Modified multiphase extraction is a superior evolution of conventional multiphase extraction, enabling contaminants to be removed efficiently and very precisely in all three phases (free, dissolved and gaseous). The technology developed by Biotix makes it possible to (1) apply a higher, controlled vacuum, thereby increasing the zone of influence, (2) combine extraction with other treatment techniques, and (3) target contaminant phases differently.

FAQs

Biotix uses developed and optimized techniques to guarantee the success of its work. We are one of the few companies in the industry to offer a guarantee to our valued customers.
At Biotix, we've made the choice to move away from traditional methods, such as chemical oxidation, in favor of faster, safer and more effective solutions. We understand how important time is to our customers!
The in-situ method is particularly appropriate when the contamination is located under a building, as it allows you to treat under your buildings without interrupting operations and without the need for costly underpinning work. This results in considerable savings.
Yes, for example, by not moving soil, we reduce total emissions by up to 3.6 tonnes of CO2 for every 1,000 metric tonnes of soil processed on site.
